Robert Koller is a lawyer based in Frankfurt am Main / Germany at one of the world's largest law firms. Before he worked in the financial services department of a top Spanish law firm and in the funds department of the biggest Gibraltar law firm. Previously, he gained also experience in the diplomatic field, having worked at the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Robert has expertise mainly in debt capital markets and funds (retail, private and, particularly, hedge funds) and bank bail-outs (government guaranteed debt, bad banks) as well as capital markets (including equity transactions, derivatives and ISDA documentation), financial regulatory law and project and asset finance. He is especially interested in alternative investments, such as cat-bonds and other insurance linked securities. During the recent crisis Robert has gained substantial experience in restructuring and bank rescue measures as well as in dealing with distressed assets. Robert also has experience in corporate and corporate finance work, including take-overs, private placements, Public Private Partnerships, compliance and M&A. He was involved in establishing electronic trading platforms for clients and has worked also in Mexico, France, Austria and the UK.
Educated in Austria, Robert graduated an Austrian and a Spanish law degree. He is qualified as a Spanish lawyer and is a member of to the Bar Associations of Madrid and Frankfurt/Main. He is also admitted to practice law as a Solicitor in England and Wales. He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst certification [www.caia.org] and is the CAIA Germany Chapter Executive. He is fluent in German, Spanish, English and French.
